Water Heater Options in Windsor

Posted on: October 17, 2014

As far as water heaters go, there are several different options that you can decide to go with. From conventional tanked water heaters to pre-circulation heat pumps, the kind of water heater you choose is limited only by what your home is like and how much you are willing to spend.

Below is a list of a few of the most common types of water heaters:

  • Conventional Water Heaters – Conventional tanked water heaters are by far the most common kind of water heater that you will find in households today. Tanked water heaters typically have a 40 to 80 gallon storage tank that has hot water for home use ready when it is needed. Conventional water heaters come in both electric and gas-fired varieties, and are also frequently installed in basements.
  • Tankless Water Heaters – Needless to say, tankless water heaters are tankless units. Tankless water heaters are much smaller than other storage tank water heaters, and operate on an as-needed basis. Due to the fact that they do not store water, tankless water heaters offer an endless supply of hot water, which is unlike storage tank models that need to be refilled when there is no water supply left. Not to mention, tankless water heaters can also be installed on nearly any interior or exterior wall of your home.
  • Solar Water Heaters – Generally speaking, solar water heaters are used in climates where it rarely gets old. Solar water heaters consist of a flat plate collector that is attached to a heat exchanger. Active solar systems have circulation systems, whereas passive systems do not. One major difference between solar water heaters and traditional water heaters is that solar systems are usually installed in the attic rather than basements for obvious reasons.

“This family owned business did a great job on my furnace. I will use them again if I ever have issues with my furnace, AC, electrical and/or plumbing. Love the one stop shop. and love their maintenance program. Highly recommend.”
